More than 3 million US cases per year is obesity. Obesity is excessive fat that increases the risk of health problems. People may wonder if obesity is a disease or a disorder. Well according to medicalnewstoday.com its been officially recognized as a disease by the American Medical Association.

“I feel like obesity is a disease because to me it's like how our body works in our system.” said Muskan Dhatt

Obesity is a disease, when you are eating too much and exercising too little this can harm your body. According to amp.livescience.com once people gain weight,the extra pounds can lead to metabolic and hormonal problems that increases the risk of diseases.

“I feel like obesity is a common thing today because of the type of food that we eat and we aren't that active we just sit down and go on any electronics or watch tv.”Said Joanna Galvan

Americans are eating bigger portions.Companies are serving bigger portion sizes such as Mcdonalds and any other fast food place.They had came out with “x-large”and “super size”

Eating bigger portions can make you sick your body won't know if your full because of all of the food you’re consuming.All your doing is eating and eating and your brain can't let you know that you’re full. The amount of calories a human is supposed to consume is 2000 calories each day.

98% of men and 97% of women failed to get a good healthy weight back.Once you've started to over eat it’s almost impossible to get back.

“With enough support and determination someone can come back from obesity finding a good routine and proper eating and not overeating i think they can come back to a good weight.”said Selena Esquivel

Obesity can actually last for years or a lifetime. It can increase your risk of diabetes,heart disease,stroke,arthritis,and some cancers. Obesity may be a hard thing to overcome.

Obesity is a problem today and if there was more people that would stay off the couch and at least go for a walk than you would lower the risks Even doing the slightest bit of activity would work it may not all just be about the eating habits and eating to much or eating junk food.
